Photography for Charity- helping families remember the ones they love

When I first decided to leave the hustle and bustle of working in an office as a Solicitor and starting my own Photography business, one thing I didn’t appreciate was the loneliness that it can bring.

Not having someone to bounce ideas off of or have a quick natter with in the staff room. But thankfully I have found myself four women that have been my go-to and helped me with loads of photography and business queries plus given me daily laughs.

Two years ago, we started ‘chatting’ on Instagram and found an instant bond. The thought did cross my mind that any of them could be weirdos but I’m pretty certain that none of them are (ok maybe a little!)

It’s not only professionally that we have supported each other. Last February, Emma’s best friend tragically took her own life.  We were there for her, giving her the space she needed and being there for when she was ready to “chat” again.

Emma wanted to begin a service offering photography to families who have someone suffering from a life-shortening condition so they have photos to look back on. We all wanted to help her with this.

I’m going to be totally honest and say that I don’t know how I will feel photographing someone whose life will be cut short.  I don’t think there is a way to prepare for the emotion that it will bring.   But if I can give a family something to look back and remember the one they love, it has to be worth it.
